The largest National Park in Uganda is located at the northern end of the Albertine Rift Valley. The Victoria Nile, which creates the breathtaking Murchison Falls by plunging 45 metres over the remaining wall of the rift valley, splits the park in half. This section of river offers thrilling spot fishing opportunities in addition to one of Uganda’s most amazing animal displays. The Nile Perch, which can weigh up to 108 kg, inhabit these waterways, making it likely that you may catch a huge fish.

Spot fishing is popular in Entebbe along the banks of Lake Victoria and the River Nile. There are many Nile Perch in the world’s largest freshwater lake, the Lake. It is a “catch and release” policy. At Ngamba Island, spot fishing excursions are scheduled on dedicated speed boats throughout the year, with a focus on the daytime hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

These are some of the frequently asked Questions About Uganda Fishing Tours

Murchison Falls National Park may be reached from Entebbe around six hours by car northwest (depending on traffic), with most of the roads leading to the park being paved. There are marram roads inside the park. Our all-inclusive tours come with comfortable, roomy 4 x 4 vehicles driven by a private driver, complete with space for fishing gear! If you are pressed for time, you can also utilise internal aircraft to get from Entebbe to the Murchison Falls National Park. View the Murchison Falls map.

The best months to fish at Murchison vary from year to year, but it’s generally agreed that the drier months of the year—December through March and June through October—bring in better fishing results. We catch all year round, but the likelihood of rain is lower during certain months. All year long, thunderstorms might appear out of the blue.It is best to avoid the start of the April/May rainy season.

Sport Fishing at Murchison Falls National Park is generally practiced in the area near the base of the falls. Fishing is done from a boat below the water falls in the pools or from the rocks along the riverbank.

It is perfect to have two anglers on a fishing boat, but it is possible to have as few as one or as many as four anglers on one, however they must be skilled.

The National Park lacks stores, so you’ll need to pack everything you’ll need, including sunscreen, prescription drugs, smokes, extra batteries for cameras and electronics, and insect repellent. It can get very hot, therefore we advise you to pack as much sun protection as you can, such as hats, sunglasses, and creams. The greatest footwear for shore fishing from the steep, rugged rocks is hiking or safari boots. Fishing garments that are lightweight and light in colour work best since they keep you cooler and deter tsetse flies from attaching themselves to you. Long sleeves and long trousers are excellent, however avoid blue/black dark colours where ever possible as these colours really attract the tsetse. It’s advisable to pack a lightweight rain jacket and an evening jumper.

Because the Nile is home to hippopotamuses and dangerous Nile crocodiles, anglers are reminded not to put their hands or feet outside the boat.
